The Psalmist writes in Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
​In a world where truth is selective, anxiety runs rampant, and emotions give way to reactionary responses, there is one truth that stands above them all: the word of God. When writing this song, I was reminded that the Lord’s desire for me is to seek Jesus as my resting place, my source of truth, and my steadfast Rock. God gave us the word of God so that it might be the foundation of our lives. His word tells us who He is, what He’s done, instructs us on how we are to walk in Him in obedience in the pursuit of righteousness, and it tells us of truth. In the Bible, it is written in Hebrews 13:14-15, “For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come. Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.” This is the heart of continuing to do Christ’s work of establishing His kingdom–that we proclaim His name and tell others about His kingdom! This world is not our home, but where we have been placed by God to make an impact until we make truly make it home with Him for eternity. May we always have eternity with Christ in our sights and may that fuel the work we do to expand God’s kingdom.
Offering of Praise
Written in April 2024, Kylee and her fiancé Luke West wrote this song asa a prayer, adoring Jesus Christ and all that He is. The main hook line, “Offering of Praise,” describes one reflecting on all that Christ is, and as such, responding in offering Him what they have–an offering of surrendered praise
Relentless Pursuit
Written in September 2023, this song is written as a take on the story of the prodigal son told in the Gospel of Luke in the Bible. The lyrics tell the story of a girl on a wandering path away from the Father she knows. As she begins her pursuits of wordly things and runs from God, the story continues as the lyrics tell of the Father’s unwavering love for His daughter–even in her runnning away. The story closes with the girl expereincing life-changing redemption and grace found in her relationship with the Father. This song invites the listener to explore what it is to truly surrender to the Lord, and how even in our constant pursuit of our selfish desires, the Father is continually pursuing us and drawing us back to Him.
